Treatment of Hypertension
Hypertension has no cure so it can only be managed so the best treatment for hypertension is lifestyle adjustment such as abstaining from alcohol and smoking. And also avoid secondhand smoke which can increase your heart disease risk.
Regular exercise- this helps to burn excess fat which could become a problem to the
Diet control- eating of fruits and vegetables rather than foods high in cholesterol and fat.
Adequate rest and sleep can also help to lower blood pressure.
Increase potassium in your diet. Potassium helps balance the amount of sodium in your cells. If you don’t get enough potassium in your diet or retain enough potassium, you may accumulate too much sodium in your blood
Medication– there are drugs which help to lower blood pressure and this can be gotten through a doctor’s prescription.
NOTE: If you drink alcohol, do so in moderation. For healthy adults, that means up to one drink a day for women and two drinks a day for men. One drink equals 12 ounces of beer, 5 ounces of wine or 1.5 ounces of 80-proof liquor.
