President Buhari was accused and is still being accused of not having his school cert, a mandatory rudiment for the office of the president, and up till now, he is unable to prove to Nigerians he has it. NO ONE PROTESTED.
President Buhari spent more than half the years of his first tenure abroad. NO BODY PROTESTED.
Among all the presidential candidates that contested the 2019 presidential election, Muhammadu Buhari was the only candidate that refused to attend the acclaimed presidential debate, an act that would have cost him his ambition in civilized climes. NO ONE PROTESTED.
Nigeria under the present government is listed as the world headquarter of extreme poverty, up till now. NO ONE HAS PROTESTED.
Our so-called president who had been traveling from one state to another to make campaign speeches, even when this was a severe difficulty for him as evident in the numerous legendary verbal and physical blunders he made, blatantly refused to make an inaugural speech the day he was sworn in for his second term. An act that has never happened before in the history of this country. NO ONE PROTESTED.
Our federal government, led by a Fulani man, has concluded plans to freely allocate thousands of hectares of our lands permanently to foreign Fulani herdsmen to do their private business of cattle rearing. NO ONE
PROTESTED. NO ONE ASKS THE PRESIDENT TO STEP DOWN.
despite the severe poverty in our country, our legislators are one of the highest paid legislators in the world; their wages, allowances, and bonuses are much higher than that of most civilized countries of the world.
NO ONE PROTESTED.
We are very much aware of the massive insecurity, poor electricity supply and the sad state of infrastructures in this country, NO ONE IS PROTESTING.
TODAY we all know that one way we can curb corruption in our country is by having a law that makes local government autonomous. Our politicians have refused to allow this to happen for selfish political reasons.
NO ONE HAS PROTESTED.
But a lady and her husband came up with a brazen allegation of How a pastor raped her about twenty years ago and within forty eight hours there are protesters everywhere. Even some of our so-called celebrities who could not summon the courage to come out to protest against this anti-people government when a popular musician scheduled and canceled a protest, are now in the streets ‘courageously’ calling for pastor Biodun to step down.
Now While I state categorically here that I’m not in anyway in support of rape and wouldn’t want to join issues with any of the two parties involved in this highly promoted scandal, as I’m not in any place to judge or condemn anyone, I want to ask our “brave” protesters few questions :
Did you suddenly learn and understand the act of protesting when you heard this story?
Is your decision to remain silent over the misrule in the country for the past four years and sudden interest to protest against someone accused of an act that was committed nineteen years ago not a pointer that you are comfortable with the sad state of this country?
What if this man is guiltless after all. How do you think God that gave him that office would feel seeing you humiliate His instrument in such a manner?
Let’s be reasonable for once and learn to discern and pay more attention to priorities. While it is very right to speak up against rape or any misdeed of like manner, It’s more expedient we do it when we have enough and substantial evidence. Let’s allow and if possible help the accuser take her complaints through the appropriate legal procedure and until the pastor is found guilty by a competent court of law, Let’s allow the matter of the church remains a matter of the church.
