ABUJA – The National Working Committee, NWC, of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Tuesday Congratulates the ninth National Assembly for its effective inauguration.
The party praised the recently chosen Senate President, Ahmed Lawanda, Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege just as the recently chosen Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila and Deputy Speaker, Idris Wase for their triumph in the acutely challenged races.
In a statement signed by its spokesman, Kola Ologbondiyan, the party vowed to stand on the side of decency and utmost respect for the institution of the National Assembly and “the values we hold as a people.
” The statement further read: “Our party charges the federal lawmakers, as representatives of the people, to place the welfare, wishes, and aspirations of Nigerians above every other consideration by ensuring a strong and independent legislature that upholds the tenets of democracy and the dictates of our constitution.
“The ninth National Assembly in this way should strive to spare our country from the overall discouragement brought about by the mismanagement of the President Muhammadu Buhari organization, by viably applying its statutory authoritative instruments to ensure great administration and monetary judiciousness, control debasement, check the overabundances of the official and shield the privileges of Nigerians from unremitting infringement.
“The PDP reminds the National Assembly individuals to hold up under as a top priority that their loyalty is to the general population and the constitution and not to a specific chief or group. “Our party charges the assembly to work just in light of a legitimate concern for our country and oppose the controls and weight that may originate from quarters that try to undermine our democratic request.”
